Default yellow exclamation on both cd drives after upgrading to winxp

don't know if this happened right after upgrading to winxp or a few days
later (nephews pc)....i have a creative cdr CD5233E and a Sony CDRW CRX220E1
which both have yellow exclamation points on them....when i press
troubleshooting it says Windows can not start this hardware device the
registry might be corrupted Error code 19....does any know how to fix this
problem....any help is greating appreciated

Uninstall the IDE controller (not the drives - separate entry in DM), then
reboot and let XP re-install the controller.
