Default Workstation or desktop?

I'm considering building a computer around an Asus P4G8X Deluxe
motherboard. I'll use it primarily for communication with some audio
and graphics work. In researching this board, I see it referred to as
a "workstation" board as opposed to a "desktop" board. Intel lists
the E7205 chipset used in the P4G8X Deluxe as a workstation chipset as
opposed to desktop. What's the real difference?

Thanks.
