Please help with mouse problem.
My new logitech cordless optical mouse is not working on some buttons -- like my desktop icons, my AOL favorite places folder, newsgroups, etc. I hit the buttom to open and nothing happens, so I have to hit the button on the right side, which brings up a menu of sorts, and then I hit read, or open and can open the file; but in myAOL favorite places, neither works! My old mouse was a cordless, button, Logitech that came with my new Dell. It was tied in to the Logitech cordless keyboard. When I installed the new one and it didn't work right, I tried removing one of the connectors for the old mouse, but that made the keyboard not work! So I reinstalled the new logitech mouse, and still have the same problem with it not opening some items and opening others. I sure would appreciate any suggestions. Warm regards June |

Warm regards June If the cordless mouse came separate of the keyboard, you need to use the receiver unit that came with the mouse, not try to use the one for the keyboard for the keyboard and the mouse. It sounds like you say that the old receiver (now just for the keyboard) requires both the keyboard and mouse PS/2 connectors plugged into the motherboard PS/2 ports and thus both are used up and you have none left over for the receiver for just the new separate cordless mouse. It's been awhile since I had a duo cordless combo of keyboard and mouse but I would've thought that you could've just unplugged the PS/2 connector for the mouse for the receiver used for the cordless keyboard and then plugged in the PS/2 connector for the new but separate receiver for the cordless mouse. Sounds like something you need to check with Logitech. How many mice are listed in Device Manager? -- __________________________________________________ __________ ** Share with others. No, that's not the problem. I have two places to put the mice connectors. The
problem is that when I tried to disconnect the line for the broken mouse that came with the keyboard (both lines for the keyboard and mouse come off one cable), the keyboard wouldn't work. So, I left it as is and just installed the new mouse; but the new mouse isn't working on some things. I click and nothing happens in my AOL favorite places for instance. In other areas it works OK and then, again, in other things, the left click won't work, but if I right click I get a menu of sorts that let's me select options like open, read, etc. Something is very screwy! :-( Warm regards, June |
