Hello! can you conseil to me good dvd multistandard burner if you had tryed it ? (good in burnering cd too...if is it possibil without "Lost of quality for dvd burning" thanks much! Greetings! -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG Hello, "Danzig Glenn": Panasonic, from my extensive online research, appears to produce the top DVD and CD (IDE) recorders, and they're among the most affordable, too. They've always excelled at DAE (i.e, digital audio extraction), whereas, their competitors' offerings have often been faulty in this particular area. Japan's Matsu****a is the parent company of Panasonic, as well as other well-known electronics brands (Technics, Quasar, etc.). OEM (original equipment manufacturer), also called "bare", versions of Matsu****a's DVD/CD computer drives are distributed, minus the "Panasonic" label; they typically lack "burning" software, cables, and printed documentation. As a result, such devices are significantly cheaper than their fancily-packaged "retail" counterparts. For instance, I recently made an online purchase (from LiveWarehouse http://shop.store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse) of the Matsu****a (OEM) SW-9571-CYY (a.k.a., Panasonic LF-D521) "Multi-Drive." At a mere $148 (U.S. dollars), plus free shipping, it's a genuine bargain. I'd already bought Nero 5.5.10.x (full CD; $9.99, total), off eBay http://www.ebay.com, a few days before. This superior combination of hardware/software amounted to a paltry $157.99! (Neither has arrived, yet, however.) The SW-9571-CYY, with its capabilities of writing to DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM/CD-R/CD-RW, must be the most versatile specimen of its type, available today. It seems that a relatively small number of non-Matsu****a drives currently support DVD-RAM, but, it's largely considered the best solution for data storage purposes. It can be rewritten up to 100,000 (versus other media's 1,000) times, and in Windows, allows the disc to be used the same way as a hard disk. That is, files can be saved via the "drag-and-drop" method, without the need of installing potentially flaky "packet-writing" software. Incidentally, the SW-9571-CYY will replace a CW-7586-B (4x8x32 CD-RW), and my DVD-ROM is a 5x32 SR-8583. Both of these latter puppies are Matsu****a OEM models, so...as you can see, I practice what I preach. :-) Good luck! Cordially, John Turco PS: You have a rather strange name, for an Italian -- or for anybody, actually. g |

Note, also, that Yamaha exited the CD-R/RW market, earlier this year (2003). Correct. For instance, I recently made an online purchase (from LiveWarehouse http://shop.store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse) of the Matsu****a (OEM) SW-9571-CYY (a.k.a., Panasonic LF-D521) "Multi-Drive." I have found as Panasonic named...at....about 240euro (about 230/250 $ depending of monetary change of moment...just for have an idea ) Sorry, I only deal with U.S. dollars. G This superior combination of hardware/software amounted to a paltry $157.99! (Neither has arrived, yet, however.) The SW-9571-CYY, with its capabilities of writing to DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-RAM/CD-R/CD-RW, must be the most versatile specimen of its type, available today. But lack in writing Well, I guess I was a bit premature, in praising the SW-9571-CYY's vaunted "versatility." I just stumbled upon this Web article, from April 1, 2003: PCWorld.com - Hitachi Unveils Do-It-AllDVD/CD Recorder http://www.pcworld.com/news/article/0,aid,110087,tk,dn040103X,00.asp Here's the gist of it: "The GSA-4040B can record to DVD-R and DVD+R discs at 4X speed, DVD-RW discs at 2X, DVD+RW at 2.4X, and DVD-RAM at 3X. It is also capable of recording to CD-R discs at 24X and CD-RW discs at 16X, according to the manufacturer." It was supposed to be released in June, by the way. Although, elsewhere, I've read that it will be mainly limited to "OEM customers" (initially, at least). Hitachi and Korea's LG Electronics - which changed its name from "Goldstar", in 1995 - "jointly developed and produced the drive under the name HLDS (Hitachi LG Data Storage)." Previous line quoted, from he CD Freaks.com - Various DVD Multi Drives and LG DVD+RW Drives in 2003 http://club.cdfreaks.com/archive/topic/58354.html It seems that a relatively small number of non-Matsu****a drives currently support DVD-RAM, but, it's largely considered the best solution for data storage purposes. It can be rewritten up to 100,000 (versus other media's 1,000) times, and in Windows, allows the disc to be used the same way as a hard disk. No, I haven't run any true tests on the CW-7586-B's recorded discs. I'm simply happy that it hasn't yielded any "coasters", yet! g Good luck! Thanks! Best Greetings to you! You, too. PS: You have a rather strange name, for an Italian -- or for anybody, actually. g Yep...but...It's not my real name eheh -- Posted via Mailgate.ORG Server - http://www.Mailgate.ORG Tsk, tsk. Please, rest assured that my name is the "real McCoy", ironical as that may sound. :-D Cordially, John Turco |
