Default scsi question and is it my fault

hi everyone

heres a question i posted in the scsi ng, only got 1 reply which said it
wasnt my fault, i need more info b4 i contact the seller of the items, seems
he sells trillions of scsi items so i want to make sure first.

Hi

I picked up a pile of sca 9gb WD drives for next to nothing, to go in a pile
of scsi compaq pro 5100 stations to increase the 2 or 4gb drives fitted

I bought 4 adapters, 3 like this

SCA 80 pin to SCSI 1/2/3 68/50 Adapter Card

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

1 like this

Ultra SCSI Adapter SCA 80 to 68 Pin Best Buy!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT

the ultra worked fine but the others when the power is switched on causes
smoke and burning.

Should just connecting them up cause that? i thought i had got the correct
items.

thanks

I may add i give the pc's to kids as edu machine which i got for free, and i
really need to get these systems up with the larger drives.

somone recommended
