? about external drives enclosures and ATA
If an enclosure advertatises ATA to USB2.0 is that ATA , Ultra ATA , 100 ,
133? And would a Ultra ATA 133 shift down to 100 if needed? Thanks |

ATA133 downshifts just fine as it's the drive that sets
speeds. As far as the other, you'll have to ask the maker. ATA is an ambiguous statement. "Rich S." wrote in message news If an enclosure advertatises ATA to USB2.0 is that ATA , Ultra ATA , 100 , 133? And would a Ultra ATA 133 shift down to 100 if needed? Thanks |

It wouldn't matter though, USB2 is far slower than ATA100 and the drive (or device) will both run at the lowest common speed, so yes it should "shift down". |
