Gigabyte fanless 6600--opinions?
I'm considering getting a Gigabyte GV-N66256DP (a fanless GeForce 6600
with 256MB DDR): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125189 Current system specs: A64 3000+ S754 Asus K8N-E (AGP 8x) 1GB DDR400 I have an eVGA 5900XT currently, which a friend offered to buy from me. This 6600 looks attractive since it doesn't have a fan (I've heard enough whiny video card fans seize up and die--and the 5900XT is sounding a little suspicious lately anyway, which, before you ask, I have told my friend about). My question is, would the 6600 be any faster than the 5900XT? I've looked at the usual places (Tom's and Anand's) and I haven't been able to find any direct comparison between the two cards (or any benchmark of the 6600 AGP at all, for that matter). I realize that the 5900XT probably has more raw pixel-pushing power (it definitely has more memory bandwidth, on paper at least), but how does it compare when it comes to newer titles? |

The 6600 vanilla isn't much of an impovement over the 5900 especially the 64 bit versions which are noticeably slower. Be careful about that, there are a few different versions out there.. |
