5672 Synaptics Problem
Everytime I go to the mouse applet in control panel I get this error
message: "An exception occurred while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\main.cpl",Mouse"" I have tried everything I don't know what to do next. I uninstalled all of the synaptics software and drivers and tried the newest drivers from the synaptics site, same results. I have replaced the I8042prt.sys file from the xp setup disk. I have replaced the main.cpl from the system32 folder as well all with the same results. It doesn't appear to be a corrupt i8042 or main.cpl file. When I go to Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP folder and rename the driver SynTPCpl.dll to SynTPCpl.dllold the mouse applet in the control panel works and opens to the standard mouse setup box not the synaptics setup. Synaptics support says call Acer. Acer like all of the other companies says do a restore. I don't know what else this problem could be it is driving me nuts. |

5672 Synaptics Problem
Acers fall back to problems is do a Restore. Even if u send a machine
in with hardware problems(which a restore will not fix) they'll do a restore and ship it back...with the same exisiting hardware problems. You'll have to be ready to fight to reship it back to them for proper servicing. What a headache!
