Default Geforce FX 5900 LX?

Hi,

I was going to buy this card :

Leadtek WinFast A350TDH LX GeForce FX 5900 128MB DDR TV-Out/DVI as
advertises on the overclockers uk website. Is this a cut down version
of the 5900 chip. It just seems very cheap to me at only £167.00. All
the other 5900 cards are upwards of £200, the ultra costing even more.

On the other hand they sell the leadtek geforce fx 5800 card for
£202.00.

Which one should i go for, bear in mind i only have a athlon xp 2400+
cpu and 512mb pc2100 ddr ram.

regards

paul

This is a standard 5900 with Leadtek's cooling system. Should work
just fine. Might even overclock nicely.... your mileage may vary,
of course.

Spec:-

Avoid. The 5800 is noisy and obsolete.

The A350TDH LX is the slower memory version of the standard
5900 A350TDH...............2.8ns vs 2.2nS

Spec:-

http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/wi..._tdh_lx_2.html

which also purports to show the difference from the standard non-LX,
but does not change the Memory Bandwidth in spite of the memory
speed change................... This spec also does not state the
memory clock speed. The standard A350LDH is the usual
GPU 400MHz, Memory 850MHz non-Ultra speed.

Apologies. In my haste I failed to notice the LX designation.

ok thanks for that, will stay away from that one.

My second choice is this :

Sparkle GeForce FX 5900 128MB DVI/TV-Out - Retail (GX-047-SP)
The NVIDIA GeForce FX family of GPUs ushers in a new era of graphics
and gaming. With a GeForce FX powering your graphics experiences, you
can run applications and games at higher resolutions and at speeds
never before possible. Whether you're a bleeding-edge gamer who
desires the most advanced gaming technology available, or a PC user in
search of the perfect combination of power, performance, and
value--GeForce FX top-to-bottom solutions deliver.

- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900
- 400 MHz Core clock
- 128MB DDR memory running at 850MHz
- 256bit memory interface
- 400 MHz RAMDAC

It dosent mention 2.2 or 2.8ns memory but i assume as its memory is
running at 850mhz rather than 700mhz its a better card?

You are correct; it seems to have the faster. I don't know much about the
brand though; its good or bad points. Maybe an owner will respond with more
details.

Thank you all for the comments,

However, i got one of the leadtek lx 5900 cards and its pretty good. i
get 10,148 in 3dmark 01 and 4456 in 3d mark 03. Pretty good cnsidering
ive omly got an athlon xp 2400+ and 512mb pc2100.

One thing though, its a massive card, both in thickness and length.
Only just fits in my case.

paul
