Default Paul can u help again? need fan for this mobo

Biostar MCP6P-M2 GeForce 6150 Socket AM2

All my fans just have 3 pin holes in the cable. But this mobo has 4 pins
where I am supposed to plug in the fan. I don't know how to order this or
even how to check to make sure I am getting the right fan.

Paul, can you help one more time?

There are several PDFs in their manual download. Sometimes
these are easier to read than when the docs are printed and
shipped in the motherboard box. The file is self-extracting.

The CPU fan header is on the upper right of the motherboard.
It has four pins. The three pins on the left, are the "normal"
pins - Ground, +12V, RPM. If your CPU cooler has a three pin
fan. the plastic keying tab on the connector will help
guide the three pin connector to the proper three pins
on the four pin header. So use pins 1,2,3.

1 2 3 4 CPU header, upper right
--TAB--

A retail AMD CPU cooler might have a four pin fan and use all
the pins. The pin on the right is a speed control signal
sent by the motherboard. If the CPU temperature is low,
the signal can be used to set the fan speed to a low
value.

You can use either a three or a four pin fan, but if
the fan is the three pin variety, don't expect to be
able to control the fan speed. It will run at full
speed, as far as the motherboard is concerned.

In the lower right corner of your motherboard, there is
a three pin header. It is for a chassis fan. You would
benefit from hooking up a rear exhaust fan, which will help
keep the computer case cool.

1 2 3 Chassis fan header, lower right
--TAB--

Paul, thanks alot bud. I saw that 3 header thing. I put the cpu fan on
it....why wouldn't that be okay? The old Dell comp was using a 3 pin header.

The CPU fan must go on the CPU fan header, because the BIOS monitors
the RPM signal. Some BIOS will shut off the computer, if they
detect a fan failure during initial POST. So you want the CPU
fan connected, because for sure, it has an RPM signal. All the
chassis fans I have around here, don't have RPM on them. If I
connect one of my two wire chassis fans to my CPU header, the
computer will shut off.

So CPU fan goes to CPU header.
