Opinions on this psu
I think it looks pretty sweet, but the price seems a little too good to be
true, what do you guys reckon? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...6077 768&rd=1 Cheers |

If that's a 550 watt PSU, then I'm The Easter Bunny. That PSU's output current as listed: +12V = 18 Amps +5V = 30 Amps +3.3V = 14 Amps Now, my old Antec 400 watt PSU (PP412X): +12V = 18 Amps +5V = 40 Amps +3.3V = 28 Amps That comparison should tell you all you need to know. |

I presume they mean 550W "?M+3.3V and +5V total output shall not exceed 235wats ?M3.3V, +5V and +12V total power shall not exceed 380W" OK, so the maximum power is 550W, but you're not allowed to exceed 380W???? WTF is that!! Lets do the Math: 3.3 * 14 + 5.0 * 30 + 12 * 18 + 5.0* 0.5 + 12 * 0.8 + 5 * 2 is *just* over 400W. So thats a cheap 400W PSU. Not a cheap 550W PSU. You'd probably be lucky to get 300W out of it at operating temperature. How they can advertise a PSU as 550W when it's 400W (by their own admission) is quite beyond me. It's a lie, a con and a cheat. Alrite Ben Pope, I can see you're really good at math. I am looking for a
good power supply myself. What would you PSU experts recomend? I am running A64 3200+ radeon9800, 3 hard drives, 1 optical and couple of 12v fans. I need something that can feed my hardware pure stable current and still run pretty cool. Something possibly with automatic fan speed control+manual fan speed control, I need something really quiet, is ENERMAX Noisetaker any good? "Ben Pope" wrote in message ... I think it looks pretty sweet, but the price seems a little too good to be true, what do you guys reckon? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...tem=3486077 7 68&rd=1 Cheers I have a Real PC Power 450 watt PSU (got it at www.directron.com for $20 w/ free shipping about 6 months ago) and it has been running the following system with no problems. AOpen AK79G Max AMD 2500 Barton w/ OCZ Gladiator 3 H/F Apacer 2x 256MB PC3200 Maxtor 133/IDE 60GB 7200RPM AOpen CD-RW Lite On CD Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II 5.1 Digital Abit FX5200 128MB 64-bit (no fan just a heatsink) AOpen PCI Fax/Voice/Data Card Antec Mid Tower Case with 5 LED 80mm Fans + 40mm chipset LED Fan Maybe I got lucky. But then sometimes a no name company makes a good product just like named brand company like Antec makes a crappy 330 watt PSU with all the "right specs" I was unfortunate to own. Take a chance, I did and it worked. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). First, you can get it for $28 at the mrtech website. Second, and more important. The 550W rating and the individual rail ratings don't add up so somerthing is wrong. They have 2 other 550W supplies listed that I wouldn't have a problem using, and they're even cheaper, but this one looks fishy. BTW, I am using one of their 600W models for my AMD 64 system. It was $24. I've also used the $12 500W for the AMD 64 system. Both still functioning fine after a few months. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |

In search for a good PSU for myself, I found it. What I read about this PSU is you'll never use the power in full in a Normal desktop. However, using it on a Server/Workstation it's one of the better PSU's on the open market. Denny. :-) ;-) High on life @ the time, not drugs. But some drugs are not so bad. |

Dude that psu costs $289 o_0 why would I want that? I would rather just buy a nice amd 64 processor and use my current psu! |
