TFT monitors
I'm and avid gamer. In the past, I've owned some nice CRT's including Sony,
Nanao, etc. And, in the past, LCD monitors might not have been too good for games, but times have changed. I'm running a Samsung 172T now, and I would never consider going back to a CRT. If you want to see what users think about the latest crop of LCD's for gaming just read the reviews he http://secure.newegg.com/app/Custrat...tem=24-134-035 "Ben Pope" wrote in message ... Simon Henderson wrote: Hi. I am currently looking at buying a high-end PC running something like a 128MB Radeon 9800 Pro - primarily for playing games. Many such systems come with 18" or 19" TFT monitors, and I was wondering if somebody could please advise me on how suitable such displays are for gaming. For example, do they tend to suffer from lag (i.e. slow refresh, after-image, etc) and is the resolution compromised. Would I perhaps be better-off spending my money on a larger CRT monitor? Unless you want to spend a rediculous amount of money on an LCD, I would say CRT. I've had a Sony G400 (19" Trinitron) running 1600x1200 @ 85Hz for some time now and it's lovely. No headaches (which I got a lot of when I had a crappy 17" Dell display), colours are great, images sharp (despite the high resolution). In my opinion you should spend a considerable amount of your pc budget on the display, it's seriously worth it and will increase the pleasure of using your system. Ben -- I'm not just a number. To many, I'm known as a string... |
