Asus P4P800 question about price and quality
Also, here's another question. WHY is the Asus more expensive that the MSI Neo-2? They are both 865 boards, the MSI has more stuff, but the asus is a bit more expensive. I assume that Asus uses better quality components... I found out about the Neo2 from Tom's Hardware Guide. -- -------------------------------------------- To contact me, replace "at * no spam * hotmail dot com" in my email to ". |

The Asus P4P800 blows the Neo2 out of the water. The P4P800 has PAT,
something that is supposed to be found only on the 875 boards. Unfortunetly for legal reasons Intel will not let Asus call it PAT, so it's called "memory acceleration mode" in the BIOS. Make no mistake it's still PAT. You're bascially buying an 875 board without ECC. I know that with the Neo2, MSI put on a little cheat so that it would perform slightly better than 865PE boards in benchmarks. At 100% CPU the Neo2 will automatically overclock the FSB by about 5%. Tom's hardware makes it out to be "ingenious" but beware Tom's hardware is dead wrong and its sole purpose is to make the Neo2 perform better in benchmarks, giving it the illusion of being a better board. If you want to overclock by 5% you can do it by telling the Asus bios to "Overclock 5%" in the jumperfree config. Even with the Neo2's cheat the P4P800 blows it out of the water in benchmarks when you enable PAT. Hope this helps...
