Default 7900gs

Just had to share my results with you guys about getting a 7900GS. I
upgraded from a 6800 vanilla this week and I am quite impressed with the
performance to price ratio. Great overclocker too, just use good cooling
practices. You can't really go wrong with this card as a power user or upper
range video game addict. I know it's not as wonderful as the newer 8800's
but for a couple of hundered it'll hold you until the 88's get down to a
reasonable level, and trust me you won't be settling. I like to read the
benchmarks and reviews but honestly I put a LOT of weight in user reviews. I
have most of the good FPS'ers installed and aside from the 512MB version of
Doom3, it'll run them all nicely.

I guess the best way to express this is that I have another ath64 3300+
running a 6800GT in the kids room. Now this rig is stripped down of all
unessential XP files, no antivirus, no internet, no background crap to take
an extra processing away from game playing, no extra anything just pure
gaming. My son won't leave the new box alone and I asked him why. He said
"The old computer sucks Dad. The new one looks way better. Can we trade?"

$150(US) is good value for a 7900GS. I bet you, as a caring and wise
parent, can find a way to get your enthusiastic son to contribute $150
dollars worth of time and effort to his personal growth, or perhaps help
out around the house in a way he has not before. You will be so proud of
his accomplishment, you will get him his very own 7900GS, which he
clearly wants.

Forestalling the label of 'saccharine', I will suggest to you, that you
don't grant him a *new* 7900GS...maybe one that dad has already um,
pre-inspected and that leaves you with the only option but to replace
your missing card! wink wink nudge nudge say no more, say no more.

Great minds think alike. To be honest though, the 7900 is doing any damn
thing I throw at it. I might just settle with it for a while. I'm quite
pleasantly surprised at it's performance.
