Default FX5200 Problem

The fan on my video card went out and my system now overheats and shuts down
so often, I've had to remove my computer case just to keep it from
overheating and shutting down the pc.

Is there a way to fix the fan, or should I just chuck it and buy a new video
card? It still works great, so I'd rather not have to replace it, if I can
until I'm ready to build a new dual core system with all the whistles and
bells..

You can get 3rd party fan replacements, but, it kinda tricky to install and
remove the old fan.

Neweegg - Vga fans

Remove the dead fan, keep the heat sink, and zip-tie an 80 mm fan to it.
You'll get 10x the airflow. Total cost: less than $10.

That is never a reason to throw away a working videocard.
There are all kinds of 3rd party replacement fans/heatsinks out there.
