Default 2 x 6600gt (SLI) vs. 6800gt? Which is a better deal for the $$$?

I'm getting ready to build a new system. I'm using an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe
m/b and an Athlon 64 3700+, 1 gb mem. Which is a better combination for
the money - 2 6600gt's in SLI or one 6800gt? The price for two
6600gt's seems to pretty close to one 6800gt. I'm not a heavy gamer but I
want decent video when I do play.

THanks,
BR

Why don't you buy slower processor like 3500 and save some money and buy
7800gt not gtx ? But for your question the 6800gt definately !

A 6800GT. SLI has some real serious issues and only works on a select
number of games.

Thanks for the ideas/opinions. I think I will drop back to a 3500+, get an
eVGA 6800gt, and an LCD monitor.

Well what I would do is buy the 6800GT (make sure its SLi compatible)
because you get 16 pipelines, the core will be slower but the more
pipelines = more speed and faster rendering times, thus making you play
games faster (dual 6600GT have 16 pipelines TOTAL), but if you don't
want to be technical all i would say is, get the better card (6800GT)
because then you will have room to get another and then you will have 32
pipelines. And for your processor, I would suggest getting the 3700+
(for the 2.4GHz core and the 1MB L2 cache) or getting the x2 3800
processor (a little bit more expensive, but is dual core outputting more
power and letting you multi task and give you better loading times. Find
out your best bang for a buck, and you don't need to go all out on SLi
because if you have two crappy cards (6600GT) that will be outdated
sooner than the better card (6800GT).

Or, at the dropping price rate of the 7800 line, wait a few months and
see how that lines goes price-wise and act perhaps going for a 7800.
