How to reinstall Dell Dimension 2400?

Hello,
I tried to reinstall WinXP on Dell Dimension 2400 from the original CD
- WinXp is working but many drivers are missing - for example it uses
generic drive for VGA and network card is not working. Owner of the PC
have only one Dell resintall CD - she does not remember if other CD
were included.
My question:
Do I need other CD to reinstall PC?
Where can I find procedure how to reinstall it?

This PC does not have floppy drive. There no empty bay for a floppy. If
I want to add a floppy to this box - how to do it?

I can't speak for your friend , but my 2400 came with os (reinstallation)
disc and 2 drivers and utilities discs. One was for modem and fax drivers,
the other was for everything else Also came with 3 applications cds. for
cd/dvd dell tools etc.

If all else fails and you can't find the necessary drivers CD, you can download
everything needed from the Dell web site. ALWAYS install the motherboard
chipset drivers first, then graphics, video, audio in any order... Ben Myers

The CD that came with your machine would be outdated anyway. Download'em.

As for the floppy, there is a spot for a floppy -- it is just covered up
with a blank panel right now. The mounting kit is unique to this model,
though, so call Dell and order one (around $30) if you really need it.

Not sure it is worth it though.

after installing windows xp from the cd you need to install drivers.
first and foremost you need to install the 'chipset' drivers.
your machine came with a purple windows xp cd titled "operating system -
already installed on your computer - reinstallation cd". this is probably
what you used to get windows installed.
you machine also came with two or more blue and white cds (depending on the
option you ordered). one of these cds is titled "drivers and utilities -
already installed on your computer - dell dimension resource cd". this one
has the chipset, video, sound drives. the other blue and white cds include
such things as the modem driver, cd recording software, dvd playback
software, antivirus software, etc. if you are missing these blue and white
cds then you can download the drivers from support.dell.com. however you
can not get the cd recording software or dvd playback software.
as for the floppy, you could get an external usb floppy drive from any
vendor, or you could get the floppy kit from dell that includes the drive,
the bracket for mounting inside of the system, and the data cable to connect
it to the motherboard. alternatively, you could get a usb 'key', or 'thumb
drive' that you stick into the usb port on the front of the machine and
treat as a floppy drive. it easily moves from machine to machine like a
floppy is much higher capacity and more reliable.

And you may notice a stand-along USB floppy drive is probably cheaper
overall...

The 2400 I have has an option to restore the PC to the original
configuration when I received it. This is all of the drivers, OS, apps.,
etc. that were on the machine when new. When you boot the PC you will see a
blue bar with www.dell.com , when that appears, hit ctrl F11 . This is
why I was told I did not need any OS cd's etc.

Depends on when you got it. I believe that option came into play around
June 2004. My 2400, from March 2004, doesn't have it.
