Well looks like I will stay with the MSI unless I get a (puke) ATI card.
Sorry (puke) ATI lovers I have never liked them and or the support. I
have been a computer technician for several years and have never had a
pleasent experiance with ATI in general.

Don't buy another MSI board if you're looking for good tech support. They
have none.

You're not kidding. I have an MSI Ti-200 that refuses to work properly with
newer drivers (45.xx and up). Apparently this is a systemic problem and MSI
has been useless.

Good: Not so good:
PNY Gainward

Just a year ago, Gainward was considered one of the better brands because
of its top-notch 2D and good overclockability. Oh how the might have
fallen.

What's wrong with Gainward?

Theres nothing wrong with Gainward, they have a 3 year warranty. I had one go
bad and they sent me a new one no questions asked. The other brands are only
1 year warranty. DOUG

Gainward employs deceptive marketing. They call non-Ultra cards "Ultra"
hoping the buyer doesn't notice. It's very crooked if you ask me and I'll
never buy one of their cards.

You mean a Geforce3 ti 200? There is no need to use that new of a driver
for that old of a card. My Visiontek Geforce3 just loves version 30.82.
Never a hiccup.

And I love my MSI GF4 ti4200. I could not ask it to be any better. It's
absolutely silent without having to mod the fan and it's perfectly stable.

Not true, gainward has been using the term Ultra long before Nvidia used it
with their 5800 and 5900 GPU's. If you know how to read the spec's for the
card you know what you are getting. DOUG

I'm not saying there is or is not anything wrong with Gainward, only that
I've noticed a drastic change in the public perception of the company.

Was Gainward even making cards when NVidia first used the term "TNT2 Ultra"
to describe a chip more powerful and differnt from the original TNT2 chip?

Simply put: ATI accepts bug reports directly from users; NVidia does not.
I've seen bugs in NVidia drivers go unresolved for months and months with
no way to report them to NVidia. When I tried reporting the bugs to my
OEM, I was given the run around.

If I were buying today, I'd have more faith in the quality and reliability
of ATI support than NVidia support.

The Ti-200 is only a Geforce 3, but it overclocks to about 90% of a stock
4200 so I'm hoping to get several more months of service out of it. It ran
with the 30.82 drivers until Halo which had sniper rifle rendering problems.
The 44.03 drivers work perfectly fine (for now) but if I come across another
game that requires a driver upgrade, I'll probably be up the creek.
