Didn't they get all ballyhoo about that not to long ago? Anyone have any
insights?

Not you, Lenny.

NVidia have not said they are pulling out of the video card market,
they are just expanding their horizons.

Not bloody likely to find ANYONE with insights in a friggin usenet =
group, more or less educated opinions is your most probable option... =
Anyway, what makes you think anything would happen with Cg? It's not as =
if NV said they'd pull out of the graphics business you know...

Not you, Lenny.

Tough ****, Derek. Learn to live with me.

Well, Microsoft's focus has always been :
1 Office
2 Windows

Still, that does not prevent Microsoft to sell games & to make
innovative mice (seen the new one with horizontal scroll ?).

Grand, but Msft isn't saying "Windows will no longer be our primary
focus"...see the diff?

How can nvidia promulgate "Cg!" when they don't seem to care [anymore] about
what it runs on?

Or is it (and the point I was trying to make), that they think they are
better writing drivers then they are designing cards...that's alot of
engineers put out to pasture.

Look, we can have a bit of fun here if:

1) Don't be thin skinned

2) Don't use profanity

Fair enough?

MS has always said that their priority is the Office suite and not the
Windows operating system.

iirc, Cg! is a concurrent of Microsoft's DirectX and of OpenGL ?

What's "innovative" about that? IBM has been selling mice with
horizontal scroll for years. See
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/st...Display?catalo
gId=-840&langId=-1&partNumber=31P7405&storeId=1. Note that the IBM
scroll technology eliminates the need for several of the "innovative"
buttons that Microsoft provides.

Ok then, rephrase it to this: "Microsoft will no longer focus on the Office
line of products"

Or is it (and the point I was trying to make), that they think they are
better writing drivers then they are designing cards...that's alot of
engineers put out to pasture.

Yes, Cg is the 'one stop shader solution' for DX and OpenGL. Which then
makes you wonder, with hindsight, did they know they were dropping out of
the race when they decided to push Cg?
