I own both the 9800 and the 5900 and have lately been using the 9800-but
the
driver thing is oh so true. The Cat 3.8s were working fine here with all

my
games, suddenly Call of Duty crashes and the recommendation is to use the
3.7 drivers-well this is the only OpenGL title I have and the old story
about the ****ty OGL part of the Cats is true. Why should we have to
"downgrade" the drivers to play a new game, albeit based on an old (Q3)
engine?
In a dream world we'd have ATI hardware with NV drivers!
Damn

LOL, that's the best comment I've heard on this post yet. One thing I would
like to clarify though is that I was originally going to buy the 9600XT but
saw a 5600 Ultra for sale at Best Buy for 124.99 and couldn't resist being
broke as I am. It runs very well, the constant bashing in here insinuates
that the FX series run like old TNT2's. I only buy certain games like the
BF1942 series and several flying sims and will next upgrade my video card
when I build a 64 bit system with PCI2/Express and the new windows is out.
By then who knows what will be fastest for the $$$ which is what I look at.
