HDMI do I need it?
I have just purchased a new LG IPS236V 23" monitor a few days ago, I have it
hooked up to an Asus Sabertooh X58 I7 950 CPU and with an Asus 5850 Videocard. It is a really good fast setup and I am more than thrilled with the monitor, Both the Videocard and monitor have HDMI connectors, My question is Is it of any advantage to by a HDMi cable and hook it up that way? I do not watch movies on the system but play mostly Half-Life games and mods, also the monitor doesn’t have speakers. Your thoughts would be appreciated Regards, Rene |

Where's the audio connection to the video card? http://www.abccables.com/info-dvi-hdmi.html "DVI can only support digital video, and HDMI can support audio and video on the same cable" So whether you're missing something when using DVI versus HDMI depends on what your video card supports and just what you're going to use the audio on the other end of the HDMI cable. |

No. I don' t plan on using the audio, so in my case I may as well stay with DVI hookup, Thanks for the input. Regards, Rene |
