Hawking KVM doesn't work with Compaq
I have a Hawking 4 port KVM that won't work with my Compaq servers. Has
anyone experienced this? Hawking says it's something going on with the servers. A standard keyboard and mouse work fine when attached directly to the servers. I've tried the same KVM on Dell machines and didn't have a problem. |

Which operating system are you running?
I had an older KVM (IOGear) that required a Windows or Novell computer on port 1 because linux/freeBSD didn't send the right signal to the unit. |

I have a four port Compaq KVM, and have never had ny hint of the
slightest problem when using it with the Compaq servers. Of course, mine has the four switches on the front of the unit. Does your KVM require a "software" type of switching...like using a certain combination of key strokes? |

OS is Win2000 Server on all boxes. KVM can be switched through both buttons
and keystrokes. Doesn't really matter at this point because I traded it for a tape drive, but I would like to find an inexpensive one that works. They needed the KVM and I needed the drive. I would say I got a pretty good deal (couple year old DDS4 w/tapes and controller). |

There are no manufactures name or logo, but there is a model number, KVM-102 (2 port) and KVM-104 (4 port). They can use keystrokes or a single button to switch between the computers. Unfortunately the place I got them from no longer carries them, but here are the links: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=KVM-102-N http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=KVM-104E-N James |

Thanks! I'll track something down. I didn't like the Hawking anyway. Has
proprietary cables. "James Smith" wrote in message ... "Absolutely" wrote in message ... OS is Win2000 Server on all boxes. KVM can be switched through both buttons and keystrokes.
