Default 4GB of Ram Problem

I have a GA-8ANXP-D and I am desperately trying to get all 4 dimms of 1GB DDRII Crucial Memory to work. As is right now... with 4 dimms installed it only shows the size of 3 of the dimms.... this also goes in windows. Windows says that only 3 GB of Ram is detected. My question is there anyway to get this last and final 1GB dimm of Ram to work. All 4 dimms are the same make and model and all individual pass memtest tests. Is there an option in the bios or some sort of workaround out there for this problem.

just checked the manual for your board ... bit confusing as it lists only
slot 1 & 4 for DS/SS modules and 2,3,5 & 6 for SS modules only ... then
below in a table it shows that slots 2 & 5 support DS modules unless all
slots are full. Which slots are you installing the modules in btw?

You can install up to six modules, but you can only compile a total of eight
"sides" and with six there will be a performance penalty according to
Gigabyte. Since the modules you have installed are almost certainly
double-sided, you can install four of these, ideally in Slots 1,2,4, and 5
to retain dual-channel operation. Since you seem to be within specs, I
don't know why you are only seeing 3mb.

What happens when you pull the stick in Slot 4? Then, leave Slot 4
installed and pull Slot 5. Is there any change? What I'm trying to do is
isolate which module is not being seen. When this can be established, try
swapping that module with another, but leaving in all four sticks. If the
module not being seen is not seen anywhere, regardless of where installed,
it may be a problem with that module.

Make sure you pull the power cord or switch the machine off at the PSU
before moving any RAM modules around!

I struck a similar problen with my GA-K8NXP-9 where it reported only
3.25 Gigs.

Here my solution (hopefully works on your board):

- Get into the BIOS setup
- Hit CTRL-F1 to get advanced menu
- Go to Advanced Chipset Features
- Enable "Memory Hole for PCI MMIO"
(description says "remap memory to above 4G"

Now the BIOS sees 4G and Windows also sees 4G.

Hope this helps!!!
