The one I used to have was really simple.
You just place the chip on the pins of the resetter, and press the red button. The light blinked twice, and that was it. All done. Mike |

chip resetter for epson r230
hi Stryker,
the printer arrived with a continuous ink kit and also two little plastic blocks each with 3 electric connections that match the ink carts. there are instructions for the ink system but none for how to install the resetter. i can get the resetters into the cartridge carrige but i dont know if i have to push buttons or wait for red lights to appear or disapear or turn the printer off or what. Grant. "Stryker" wrote in message ... Please explain this better.... Did your CISS come with auto reset chips already installed on the cartridges? If so, then there is no need to do anything once the CISS is installed... normally when the ink levels drop down to around 10% it will reset to 90%(which keeps the printer from thinking they are new and recharging them and wasting ink) or you could have the older style chips that reset to 100%. If your CISS didn't come with chips installed... you may want to think of buying some auto reset chips for your specific printer online. I can't think of why anyone would have a CISS and have chips that would need reset manually which would require taking the cartridges out of the printer and using a resetter on them. Be sure of what you buy before you actually buy it. Stryker |

Some of them reset by themselves automatically after a certain number of
usages, and some reset each time you turn on the printer, but always leave them a half full setting. There may be other schemes as well. These instructions are typically for people using OEM or 3rd party
cartridges which do not have a resetter chip, but have a standard chip. Most resetter chips keep themselves set so they do not ever read empty. Grant,
Just out of sheer curiosity, have you tried to ask the retail outlet source you got the printer, continuous ink setter, and chip resetter from, how to use the chip resetter? (Why not???) Return them to the seller. You should only buy stuff that has documentation. "Arthur Entlich" wrote in message news:1KHLj.42327$Cj7.36539@pd7urf2no... I'd certainly try the supplier first. Maybe a packer was taking a break or simply not looking at the work. As for anyone who thinks posting here is dumb somehow, I certainly cannot agree with that. The whole purpose of this newsgroup is to be useful; perhaps who cannot respond politely to a question does better for everyone else, just not to post. I apologize for not being available to answer questions over the last
week or so. I am slowly going through the assorted postings and emails in order to attempt to answer whatever I can. I am not quite clear about this. Usually, the chips (either reset type of not) are attached to the corresponding cartridges, in a specially designed recess in the cartridge(s). I strongly suggest you contact the manufacturer or retailer of the CIS and ask them for an instruction guide to make sure the correct procedure is followed.
