Inspiron 8000 w/7200 rpm drive?
Want to upgrade an Inspiron 8000 with a new hard drive. Is there any
reason a Hitachi 2.5" ATA 100 drive that runs at 7200rpm would not work? Have the latest BIOS installed. |

Are you implying that you tried the drive and it doesn't work, or are you considering purchasing the new drive? |

Inspiron 8000 w/7200 rpm drive?
Should work fine. Are you implying that you tried the drive and it
doesn't work, or are you considering purchasing the new drive? Thanks. No I was going to purchase one and was curious if there would be any reason the Inspiron 8000 could not handle a 7200rpm drive (i.e. drive controller limitation). |

Such a 7 year old laptop can be expected to have a drive capacity limitation. If you buy a 160GB it will work, but you will only be able to use about 127GB. |

(if you have one). As the 48bit lba limit is a common thing to be fixed in bios updates. http://www.48bitlba.com/index.htm |

I have TWO of them in my Inspiron 8200...works great. Make sure you buy the PATA version as it also exists in SATA version. |
