Best memory configuration for Intel core 2 duo 6600
Hi,
I'm building a new system based on a Intel core 2 duo 6600 processor. This processor has a 1066 MHz FSB. Now I want to add 2GB of DDR2 memory, but i'm a bit confused on what the best configuration might be : DDR2 memory seems to be available at speeds of 533, 800, 1066 and 1111 MHz, and in single modules or as matched pairs. Should I choose a matched pair of 2x533 MHz or 1 module of 1066 MHz ? Will I notice a performance improvement when choosing 800MHz instead of 533 ? What about the support for future Intel processors with a higher FSB ? All comments are welcome :-) Matthias ______________________________ There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who don't. |

I thought you had to use "kit's of 2" for memory in these things. So if you want 2 Gig you put in two matched 1 gig modules. As to speed, I'd use the fastest the motherboard can support unless I was getting a real deal on the slower stuff. My MB has 4 memory slots, 2 are colored orange and 2 are colored purple. You have to put matched pairs in matched color slots. |
