Acer 1522

Hi
My display screen has gone "technical" (lots of vertical
lines, failing to boot up, failing to get past a "agp..."
system file).
I took it to a shop and they said it will likely cost $400+ to send to
acer and repair because it looks like either the graphics card or
motherboard.
Their advice did not instill any confidence for me.

Given thats almost half the cost of the laptop originally, I am
wondering has anyone had any experience in replacing a Nvidia video
card in a laptop with a 64 AMD Athlon chip at home?

What's steps are involved?
Are there any good references?
