Default Radeon X600 v X800's OpenGL capabilities?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a PCI Express card, and the X600 is in my price range.
I've noticed that according to the specs it supports OpenGL 1.5, whereas the
X800 has OpenGL 2.0 capabilities? I'm hoping to keep the card for at least
two years and wondered if the lack of 2.0 features will significantly hamper
any gaming by then, or if it's not such a big deal, or if there'll be 2.0
drivers for the X600 before too long. My big question is, will the X600
will provide mainstream performance two years out? Thanks very much.

The X600 is essentially a 9600 with PCIe support. Feature-wise it is as
capable as the X800, with the exception of some fringe items like normal
maps and 3Dc compression.

The problem is that the X600 is pretty slow. You should be looking at some
of the upcoming cards like the X700 or Geforce 6600.
