Default Removing fan from GF2GTS

Hi!

I have an old GF2GTS card witha dying fan on, the sound it makes is driving
me nuts. Now I wonder how dangerous it would be to my gfx card if I
dissconnceted it?

Best Wishes
Thomas

might not be dangerous to you, but probably terminal for the poor GTS, which
in turn would become a burden on your wallet.

True, but it also may work just fine without it.
I disabled the fan on my GF2 GTS because, as with the original poster,
the fan had become noisy over time despite cleanings. Couldn't
overclock quite as high, but the noise reduction was worth that
tradeoff for me at the time.

Might also be that at this point in time, lunching a GF2 GTS probably
wouldn't bother you greatly, an equivalent replacement wouldn't cost too
much.
