Pentium cpu voltage issue

I've got the 200MHz MMX cpu now, and after changing the jumpers to dual
voltage, I was surprised to find that the machine reported att bootup it
was a Pentium(MMX) running at 200MHz. Some websites with info on this
motherboard have suggested you need a BIOS upgrade to support the MMX
cpu:s, but since it recognises the cpu, I don't suppose this is necessary?

the Intel 166/200/233 MMX) under 2.9 v settings. The Intel MMX were

Based on this page, it should support an MMX cpu at 2.9 vs.. However, for
proper recognition of the CPU, you may need a bios upgrade. This can be
difficult to do.

So your board may or may not officially support the Intel MMX cpu. I read a
post that said the BIOS upgrade support 2.3 or later boards.

I am pretty sure you can run the 200 MMX CPU. Check if the motherboard when
it starts says it is a 200 MMX Intel. If not in the BIOS it will recognize
it as a non-MMX or Cyrix or AMD.

Older BIOS recognized the CPU by the jumper setting and supply the correct
voltage and motherboard BIOS support based on that.

Since it reported it correctly, it works and is supported by that BIOS.
Don't BIOS upgrade as it may kill the motherboard if you do it.

Only do it if you need something that the newer BIOS offers. I have about
an 80-90% success rate in flashing BIOSes on older systems. As far as I
know, I followed the instructions right but the systems died.
