xp doesn't return from standby
or maybe it doesn't even go there... it seems like it does a power off when
I press standby... sometimes, when its on standby, and I press power button to return to windows, I get the desktop screen without any icons and everything freezes.. I have to reset the computer. can someone tell me whats happening please? thanks. |

I have the same problem.
Neither Hibernate or standby work. They worked before, then stopped working. I would like to get them working again (slackers!!). I will be following this thread. Seems to be a universal prob. I have a couple of brand new Dell laptops
(WinXP) and an older HP Pavilion laptop (Win2000). Sometimes they don't recover from standby and funky looking scrambled images show on the screen, but it is locked up tight. I disabled the mode. bg "Mark A. Smith" wrote in message news:GDzub.182663$275.589778@attbi_s53... I have the same problem. Neither Hibernate or standby work. I had that problem until I recently did a clean install but I wouldn't do
that just over this problem. I think something in a recent windows update went wrong. oops your rite..
isn't that funny.. I guess everybody knows that its a well known problem for p4p800 boards "jaeger" wrote in message . .. Hm, 5 posts in the thread and nobody bothered to mention what board they have. Suspend to RAM works fine on my P4C800-E. |

okay, everything worked fine until I reinstalled xp.. so I presume the bios
is okay because it hasn't been changed. as for system devices, I tried to print to an output file, but I'm not sure if it worked or what extension the file has. how would I go about placing my list of devices for you to see please? thanks "jaeger" wrote in message . .. In article , says... oops your rite.. isn't that funny.. I guess everybody knows that its a well known problem for p4p800 boards It is? It worked great on my P4P800 as well. One of your device drivers is the culprit, not the board. List all devices as well as Power Management BIOS settings. |

The only time I've had issues with returning from S3 sleep has been
when I first overclocked the CPU. (The video would not resume, a blank desktop would appear but nothing else, or a blue screen of death.) I was not giving it enough voltage. When I bumped it up to 1.6V, my problems went away. Good luck. PfcJs On Sat, 22 Nov 2003 22:22:16 -0500, "xtz" wrote: so? whats the verdict?
