GeForce GPU shut down temperature?

BFG GeForce 7950GT

NVIDIA Control Panel says my GPU temperature is about 60°C

It says shutdown threshold is 130°C

Two questions:

Do I have to set anything to enforce the shutdown threshold? I definitely
do want it to automatically shut down at a high temperature.

Is there an ordinary way to lower the shutdown threshold temperature?

You could try the NibiTor BIOS editor. It allows you to changen al kinds
of standard settings for your nvidia based vidcard. Since you have to
edit and reflash the card's BIOS, it is a permanent fix however, and
there is some risk involved.
