Unhappy with Logitech Quickcam/Clicksmart Software.
I recently bought a Clicksmart 420, and am unhappy with the software bundled
with it for the following reasons: 1) No auto-adjustment for lighting. My old Quickcam Pro would auto-adjust the levels to compensate for low lighting, and did it very well. Present software only allows manual adjustment. 3) Lack of ability to specify a folder to save captured pictures to. Instead, it saves it to an internal "Gallery". Ideally, I'd like to do some automated captures over a set internal using my webcam, and save them to a specific folder. I'd like the lighting-adjustment feature to compensate for variable lighting in the room. Unfortunately, the limitations of the software are not conducive to this. In general, I find the software very constraining - It allows automatic upload to a website, but only does this to a partner-website of logitech, and allows no customization. If you want to upload to your *own* server, your SOL. It is disappointing, as earlier versions of the logitech software did support these features, but appear to have been dropped. This same software is bundled with all logitech models, so changing model wouldn't help. Is there any free software out there that will do what I want? -- .................................................. ............................ Present software only allows manual adjustment. Actually, I retract this statement. The camera does adjust for lighting, but it doesn't deal with low lighting very well at all. And I'm sure this is necessary for purely legal reasons... -- Rockboy I think my life is passing me by |
