Each channel can only only read/write to 1 device at a time, so if you are reading/writing to/from devices on the the same channel, it will only do one at a time. If you are going from a device on one channel to a device on another channel, then it can be concurrent. With your setup, going to/from HD to HD or cd to/from dvd drives slows you down. It's best to have a seperate channel for each device. About $10 will get you a ide raid controller with 2 more channels. or it could be that you aren't running the drives in DMA mode. I think you can check this in device manager in Win, but don't hold me to that. I don't use Win. -- Abit KT7-Raid (KT133) Tbred B core CPU @2400MHz (24x100FSB) My server http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php Verizon server http://mysite.verizon.net/res0exft/cpu.htm |

Good advice from Wes, the other thing you can do is to get another seriellel convertor and run the drives using the sata controller in raid 0 (drives permitting) MikeE |
