Default P3V133 problems with registry corruption

P3V133, Celeron 1000 (128k), 2x256 kingston pc133 clk2, ati 3d rage pro,
seagate 120 G (8meg)HD Win98SE.
Installation went without problems. Memory tests OK (docmemory v2),
Seatools tests OK, known good CPU/slocket.
After one or two reboots (software or hardware installations) windows
reports a corrupt registry. Win 98 patch for large cache IDE drives
installed. VIA 4 in one V4.43 installed.
Setup defaults loaded

Any pointers, suggestions ?

1) memtest86 from memtest.org
Use this program, because it tests _all_ of the memory.
Memtest86 is a self-booting program, that can be loaded via
floppy or ISO CD. Memtest86 moves around in memory, so that
all the memory gets tested, even low memory.
2) In Windows, try running Prime95, and see is you are
"compute stable". http://www.mersenne.org .
Select "torture test" mode. If the computation is
inconsistent, the processor could be overheating, processor
or Northbridge could be bad, or there is a memory fault that
memtest86 isn't picking up. Prime95 is a load tester, and
is also used to determine whether the CPU HSF gives sufficient
cooling.

HTH,
Paul
