GEforce 9800 GT or GeForce 8800 GTS

Hi,
I have the choice of two video cards as in the subject line
I have no idea of the amount of memory on the 8800 but the 9800 has 512 Mb
of DDR3
With only this limited information can you please give an opinion on which
is the better card for gaming

There are three versions of the 8800GTS:

A. 320 MB (G80)
B. 640 MB (G80)
C. 512 MB (G92)

All three versions have higher fillrate and higher memory bandwidth than the
9800GT. Versions B and C are almost always faster than the 9800GT in games.
Version A may be faster or slower than the 9800GT 512 MB depending on how
much texture memory the individual game requires, which is in turn dependent
on the resolution/FSAA/triple-buffering setting and often the texture detail
option selected in-game.

I have found that the 8800GTS has in fact got 640MB and is made by Palit and
the 9800 GT is made by PNY

From what you say it appears that the Palit 8800GTS is the one to use
