Default Celeron vs. P4HT

Hey all,

I recently got a new MSI mainboard (875 chipset I think) that is capable of
taking the newer P4 chips, 800FSB, etc. I am running about 1GB of DDR RAM. I
don't think it is the really fast stuff. I transferred a Celeron 2.0G
processor from my old mainboard to this new one. My question is, how much of
an improvement might I see if I replace the Celeron with a P4 2.6C HT? I'm
not much of a gamer, but I do some DVD composing and run a lot of business
apps. For some reason, I don't think the extra 600 of speed would make a big
difference ... but that combined with a P4 + the HT ability may make a
significant difference? How about $175 worth of difference?

Thanks for any opinions. Also, what are the real differences between a
Celeron and a P4?

I asked that same question but with a P4 2.0A and every answer was not
much of an improvement. But you would see a big improvement in gaming.
That wasn't the answer I wanted to hear. But I'm still going to upgrade
from my Celeron 1.7 to the P4 2.0A. The cache size, the Northwood chip,
and the speed is the only difference. Hell, I'm going for it.
