Default kr7a-raid high point controllers and high HD temperatures

I have a mobile rack HD, that I carry around. When I use in the pc with
abit motherboard (see subject, no raid in place), the HD becomes
extremly hot, as compared when I use it with the other pcs.
This sounds strange, since the place where it is inserted in the cases
is always the same.

Is there an explanation? Can be done something through BIOS, or
whatever?
TIA

Check the fan in the rack.

Good point. Not only I checked it. I even changed it with a new one, in
the hope something would have improved. I did not notice any big
significant improvement (and in fact the fan is very small and put in
one side of the rack: I do not think it is very effective.)

Is it possible that with high point controllers the HD speed is always
at the maximum, while with normal controllers the speed is reduce if
the HD is not in use?

If one does not use RAID, is it possible to use in Kr7a normal
controllers instead of High point ones? If yes how can I made the
change?

Thank you Stephen.

I do not use Raid functions. However when I put a new HD in the pc I am
asked by the system to add a driver. I think it is a driver connected
with the HPT controllers, though if I check the properties I have
disk.sys which is made by microsoft. I am a bit confused here, I shall
admit -is or is not the HPT controllers that manage the HD?

What I am sure is that many utilities that check the HD, such as Fix-it
and "everest" will not work with my HD in this pc: there is something
that is not supported. IF I swap one of these HD to another pc,
everyting works ok. So what is that prevents these utilities to work in
my home pc, with abit motherboard?
