Yep, done in ten minutes, into the machine and worked first time.
Fan-king-tastic! Now all I have to do is fabricate some spare IRQs from
bits of string and washing-up bottles. ;o)

BTW, in case anyone is wondering where I got a 300 Ohm resistor and a 1nF
capacitor from in such short order, let's just say I was involved in
maintaining a company's workstations with Fujitsu MPGx hard drives. This
means I have an LCR bridge and lots and lots of controller boards with
very
useful passive 0603s and bloody useless, porous Cirrus Logic controller
ICs...
