Default 3200 and 2100 RAM to mix or not?

I have a P4p800 with 2 sticks of corsair 3200 512 mb.

Someone sold me a pair of generic 2100 512s cheap.

Will the 2100 slow down the whole machine or is the extra gig worth it
anyway?

I multitask a lot.

TIA!

The PC2100 will cut your memory bandwidth almost in half. For a CPU like the
P4 that requires a fast memory bus with lots of bandwidth, this will pretty
much destroy performance. But since you've already got them in your hands,
chuck them in and see if things go faster or slower.

I multitask a lot.

TIA!

Sell them on eBay, and put the money to buying another identical 512MB stick
of Corsair RAM.

Actually have 2 of the corsairs 3200 and 2 of the 2100.

Felt a bit slower when I put them in.

does the fact that I have 2 and 2 still mean slower performance than just
the 2 3200?

Thanks!!

All of your RAM will run the same speed, so even if you were running
asynchronously, adding the PC2100 would clock your memory bus-speed down
from 400Mhz to 266Mhz. Running them synchronously would clock your CPU down
in the same way, so either way you are losing out somewhat.
