CRC error in DVD burner signal
I was testing some optical drives for CD ripping speed with Nero
CD-DVD Speed v.3.00. When I tested my DVD burner, I got the following error message: Error! LOGICAL UNIT COMMUNICATION CRC ERROR (ULTRA-DMA/32) (040803) Searching turned up a lot of areas that talked about that, but none I could find gave an understandable description of exactly what it is, what causes it, and what the cure is. Is this error generally caused by the drive itself, by the cable, by the motherboard or by some software or settings issue? My DVD burner is a LiteOn SOHW-832S and has never exhibited the slightest problem in the time I've been using it. It's positioned as master on IDE2. The DVD-ROM that's slave on IDE2 tested fine, but its top speed is less than the speed the LiteOn had reached when I got the error. I tested the same CDs on another computer with two drives that both reached higher rip speeds than the problem drive, and they didn't produce any errors. System: Intel 865PE chipset - P4 2.8C - 800MHz FSB - 1GB of DDR400 RAM - WinXP SP2 TIA for any ideas on how to fix this problem. Larc §§§ - Change planet to earth to reply by email - §§§ |
