Default Can't watch avi's/mpegs on new card

Hi all

I recently installed a GeForce 7600 GS, made by BFGTech, replacing a
GeForce 5900.

My problem is I can no longer watch AVI's or MPEGs. Media Player
locks up and I have to shut it down with Task Manager. I've tried
other players and no luck.

When I boot in safe mode, the videos play. They also play after I
uninstall the card and use the windows generic drivers.

I'm assuming it's a problem with the video codecs, either new ones
being installed, or a condflict with the ones I have and your card.

I've emailed the amnufacturer's tech support, but though I'd try here
as well.

I'd appreciate any help.

If you've ever installed one of the hacked/cracked/crap codec
packs (K-lite, Nimo -- ESPECIALLY Nimo) etc, try
uninstalling it. Or it's possible only a complete reformat and
reinstall of Windows will fix the codec problems.

I'll try uninstalling them, see what happens - thanks.

Following up - that did the trick, thanks !

Tried a few file types, and they all seem to work fine.

Thanks again.
