joke. What it actually says is "OK loading kernal" and then goes belly
up. My guess is it can't find the array.

Default Linux on Proliant 2000

There's probably some other hardware option that it doesn't like. The
array modules are loaded well after the base kernel. Is this a dual
processor machine? The 2000 is NOT supported in dual processor mode.

Try this load command (yes the - in gentoo-nofb is required)

gentoo-nofb noapic nousb memmap=exactmap memmap=640k@0 memmap=511M@1M
