Tried that. It does not recognize the 5.5 CD as a valid medium.

Does the 5.5 CD boot on other PCs?

No it does not. I have written 3 CD fetching the 5.5 source 3 times
with the same result. I don't believe that the 5.5 CD is a bootable one.

Can you confirm positively that it is?

the CD should most defintely be bootable ... could be a problem with the DL
of the .zip

can you boot any other CD's in that system ? Windows, linux, etc ?

I have seen other reports of problems with the HP download .... I may have
to startup my ISO download service again.

The 7.2 CD boots. FreeBSD boots. The CP005250.zip produces an iso
image fine CPQSMST550.iso. I transfer the image to CD using Nero the
same as I do for other iso images.

Nero version is 5.5.10.45

I always use burn image or saved project option to burn iso images.
Always works.

try burning at a ridiculously slow speed ... it does have an old CDROM drive
in there .... the same speed that the CDROM drive is rated for, like 12x or
8x, might do the trick for you.

do you have any other systems that have bootable CDROM drives, that try to
load this one up that then report that the system is not supported ?

Possibly just a just bad download ? Have you tried to re-download it and
burn another.
Perhaps the problem is now in your cd burner or possibly the disks you are
using.
I have seen some cheap packs of cd's with the bulk of the box bad.

Nutcracker made reference to a problem with some downloads being defective,
I downloaded the same iso and had no problems with it booting. I too
recorded it at a slower speed. This is something that no one can give you a
magic answer to. You will just have to keep narrowing it down until you find
the guilty culprit.
