Thermal paste help!!!
Hello Everyone
I looking at buying some thermal paste for my AMD AM2 5000+ cpu. I know about Artic Silver and Ceramique, how do they compare? Is there anything better and what is carbon black? Thanks in advance Long Life and Happiness --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. If you go from a 0.22C/W cooler, to a 0.12C/W cooler, that is a much bigger gain than the tiny gains from expensive pastes. Just find a paste that doesn't leave the area in a hurry, and you're done. All this crap about expensive paste is a bunch of hooey. So what if you lower temp. two or three degrees? Big deal. It's the heatsink or heatsink/fan that matters. Happy Holidays. R. |

Thermal paste help!!!
Ceramique is great, and cheap. Highly recommended. Some sites have reviewed
it without breaking it in. The arctic site has instructions. -- Ed Light Bring the Troops Home: http://bringthemhomenow.org http://antiwar.com Send spam to the FTC at Thanks, robots. |

Thermal paste help!!!
From my research Artic Silver 5 is the best actually beats Ceramique
I was hoping some of you folks may have used differnt pastes and not bearing grease that is most illogical, but then I did ask for your ideas and humans are totally illogical at times and so I should have expected some unorthodox responses. And what's illogical about using a grease that has some of the best thermal conductivity properties around, is known to last years and years without drying out, and was designed just for the purpose of heat transfer and lubrication. The grease I use on my cpu's is over 30 years old and has been in an open container for the last 20 years. It won't burn when you stick a flame to it. It barely runs. It's as cheap as it gets, and it doesn't cause sticking problems or any of the other problems you run into with some of the exotic compounds. I'd say the only thing illogical is your thinking. -- Want the ultimate in free OTA SD/HDTV Recorder? http://mythtv.org http://mysettopbox.tv/knoppmyth.html Usenet alt.video.ptv.mythtv My server http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/cpu.php HD Tivo S3 compared http://wesnewell.no-ip.com/mythtivo.htm |
