Default Samung LCD wide screen for playing games

I have a Samung 26 inch wide screen LCD on my PC but I cannot get games to
play in anything other than 800x600.
Is there a way I could force the monitor into a more standard screen rez
without damaging the monitor? 1360x768 is
the only screen rez I see as the default for this monitor. Games do not like
the odd resolution.

Any suggestions would be great, I am using a 6600GT

Rick

You can add this resolution to the Nvidia drivers manually, but for most
games there simply is no way to add resolutions other than these that
are supported by the game...

Unlike crts You can't damage the monitor by too high resolutions. Did
you try 1024x768? Would at least be better than 800x600...

That is a odd res. Standard for widescreen is 1280x720 60MHz in the nvidia
options if you selection 720 HDTV. For Games added 1280x768 60MHz since
some games can not do support 720.

I am seeing custom settings, but not HDTV settings. What drivers do I need?

To get to the HDTV sets goto nvidia setup.
Pick nView Display Settings
Click Device Settings
Select Select TV format and you can turn of 720p HDTV

I use driver version 81.95 with DVI output on a 27" LCD running 1280x720 for
DVD movies great.

I am currently using VGA Output. Will using DVI allow for more rez options?
