Default Fan Speed Control

The fans you describe are designed to be connected using the PSU
connectors (same as the hard disk, CD ROM etc). You can get the same
fans that have the 3 pin connector so that you can connect them to the
Mobo, but you have the 4 pin ones.

Correct me if I am wrong but the Q-Fan should only control one fan
connected to the Mobo - the CPU Heatsink fan.

a Zalman PSU from quietpc.com/uk.

The case has 7 fans, one at the top, 2 at the front, 2 at the back and 2 at
the side. It also has a Hardcano fan controller. I have connected the top
fan to controller 1 and the 2 side fans to controller 2. All of the fan
connecters are of the same type as harddrive/cdrom power connecters.

It would seem to me that it would be better to have the fans controlled by
the Q-Fan facility on the motherboard, but I dont see how these case fans
could be connected as the motherboard uses a 3 pin connecter.

Any help would be much appreciated

There are three connectors on the motherboard, CPU Fan which I have
connected, and PSU Fan and Chassis Fan which are not connected (and I dont
know how either). I had assumed that all three were controlled by Q-Fan

Your PSU may have a 2 pin connector that can be plugged into the Mobo
PSU Fan connector to monitor the speed of the PSU fan. It wont control
the fan speed of the PSU!

All your chassis fans have 4 pin connectors (yes?) and so they cant be
connected to the Mobo. They have to be connected to the 4 pin
connectors that come out of the PSU. The only way to connect a chassis
fan to the Mobo is by buying one with a 3 pin connected on, and not
the 4 pin connector you currently have on the chassis fan

I am pretty sure that the Q-Fan only controls the CPU Heatsink fan.

This is what you want. http://www.pccasegear.com/prod607.htm

Ive got the exact same setup as you. However I just use the 4pin leads from
the power supply, but if you want to plug the fans into the mobo just buy a
few of these.

Bear in mind, you don't 'have' to connect them all up. Why not try 3 or 4
and see how your temps go? May be quiter too!!

I hope you don't mind me asking!

I saw this thread about your Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard, Thermaltake
Xaser III case and its fans.

I wondered how you got on?

I do have a question about your setup (which I also have), where did you
connect the case headphone and mic ports to on the mobo.

Many thanks

Andrew

I connected it up to the intel front panel audio. Did you spend ages
trying to attach the firewire cable from the case to the motherboard ?
My cable had every single wire as a separate pin instead of a block as
with the usb ports.

Also do you see usb 2.0 anywhere in device manager (I Dont) ?
