That was close...
....so i decided to replace my p4 stock hsu with a p4 spark 6000 rpm one.
trying to get that damned hsu off, i managed to pull the entire hs out w/the chip attached, WITHOUT lifting the zif arm. i was like holy ****, figured id need to order a new one. replaced the hsu, fired it up, looked for sparks and smoke, and so far, so good. man that was close. |

"AmericanPsycho" spewed forth in such a glorious
tone the following gruel: ...so i decided to replace my p4 stock hsu with a p4 spark 6000 rpm one. trying to get that damned hsu off, i managed to pull the entire hs out w/the chip attached, WITHOUT lifting the zif arm. i was like holy ****, figured id need to order a new one. replaced the hsu, fired it up, looked for sparks and smoke, and so far, so good. man that was close. LOL, I did this before. I've found that Artic Silver Ceramique creates a SERIOUS connection between the HS and CPU. Usually, I'll power on the system and let it warm up a bit, then gently pivot and remove the HS. But that one time I was in a rush.
