72-pin SIMM
Would 72-pin SIMM RAM chips be either EDO or FPM RAM.
Because after some research I could not find SD RAM chips which were 72-pins SIMM's. Also If all the RAM slots would only facilitate the 72-pin infrastructure would that mean upgrade options would only mean EDO RAM at the maximum. Cheers |

Those chips would also include parity and non-parity varieties in EDO I
bleieve. As for what chip sizes you could use you would need to check the mb maker to see what sizes are usable. -- Jan Alter or "Radith" wrote in message ... No, because SIMMs aren't chips but are made of chips. However I've never heard of SDRAM SIMMs for any standard desktop PC. Also If all the RAM slots would only facilitate the 72-pin infrastructure would that mean upgrade options would only mean EDO RAM at the maximum. Of course not, because the capacity and speed of the memory modules are separate issues from the style of the modules or the chips on them. What in hell is wrong with you? Why do you write in such a showy, muddled way, like a social science or major? You may think it makes you seem smart, but in reality it makes you seem like a poorly-educated idiot. What you meant to ask was, "if all the RAM slots are designed for 72-pin modules, is EDO the best type of RAM I can use?" The answer is "yes." |

Cheers Up to a point, basic questions are welcomed here, but on the other hand this is a newsgroup, and individually educating everyone on basic priciples of yesteryear's systems is beyond the scope of the group. You would be better served reading some material as a primer, since at this rate a few dozen years would pass before you were brought up to speed, having each Q&A post taking multiple days instead of learning several things in the course of a few minutes. Suggested online reading material includes http://cma.zdnet.com/book/upgraderepair/ Many other technical primers also exist, can be found via google. |
