Default Working on MOD - How big is Fx5900Ultra & 5600Ultra?

With a friend, we are working on a case mod and we havent bought
either card yet - don't want to waste ours or the store's time with
returning a perfectly good card.

We're looking at MSI in general, but it appears that all cards are the
same size within their class (ie: All 5900 are the same).

I've done google search and tried calling some companies - they don't
know... Speak bad english and don't have a ruler...

Need to know the exact length and height (Thickness - concerning the
fans are optional) of both of these cards:

1 - fx5900 (128mb version)
2 - fx5600 Ultra (128mb version)

(note: if you have 256mb version, that should be the same, we're going
to pick up a 128mb version)

Been told that the fx5900 will work with the XPC computer (200watt)
because its not as large or has the slots or drive bays of full
desktop. But as I said, we're modding the case and need to know what
will fit.

Please help...

Size in inches or metric will work.

Some pictures here might help you to see the size in general. The MSI video
card is smaller in width and depth than the cards shown here. I could not
find an exact size on the internet but someone else might have already
purchased the card and can give you first-hand comparisons

regards

Hi.

I have one of these fx5900 MSI cards. too much hassle to strip out and
measure but i do know that it comes very close to my southbridge cooling fan
and memory retaining clips. i have to close all memory retaining clips, even
on empty slots so as to fit the card. 200 watt power may be pushing it a
bit. I have 2X cd roms 2X hd big cooling fan on amd xp2100 clocked at just
under 2000 mhz front and rear cooling fans and a 400 watt power supply, and
it stuggles. i had to re-route all power connectors as the card didnt like
sharing with anything other than my cpu coolin fan

I have an PNY FX 5900-128, a PNY Ti4600, and ATI Radeon 8500-128. All 3
cards
are exactly the same dimensions. The 5900 has a squirrel cage blower
and heat sink that
is slightly thicker than the 'muffin fans' on the other two cards. The
docs say it requires that
the first PCI slot under the AGP be empty for the 5900.

The Ti4600 is 8.5" long from back edge to slot tab inclusive. It is 4"
high from 'AGP slot top'
(card edge not included). Total height is 4 3/8" (card edge included).
It is 1/2" thick, components
included and fan.

HIH,
McG.

Thank you...

I assume PNY is using standard Nvidia layout as most of the others

Both of them are Nvidia boards, I daresay the ATI is an ATI of
course, made in China.
I wish you success with your project, and have fun doing it!
McG.
